History
When the IOOF-Erickson Building opened in 1896, the Bee Hive Department store served customers on the ground floor and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Hall on the second floor played host to many events. In more recent times the spaces had been converted to offices and covered with decades of remodels.
As restoration began, we removed the layers to reveal the original architecture that hinted at its past glory. In 2016 the building received an "Iowa at its Best" award for historic preservation. Ask for a historic tour of the building and remember to take a walk through the Northwood Central Avenue Historic District on your next visit.
